FOUNDATION ISSUES $10,000 FOOD PANTRY CHALLENGE!

The Greater Sauk Community Foundation announced today that it will match the first $10,000 of cash gifts it receives to benefit local food pantries responding to the COVID-19 crisis.

The Foundation is donating its services, so 100% of all gifts will be directed immediately to food pantries in its seven-county service area, including Adams, Columbia, Iowa, Juneau, Richland, Sauk, and Vernon counties.

“Our Board is extremely concerned about the toll the pandemic is taking locally, especially on families and small businesses,” said Robin Whyte, Foundation executive director. “We’ve been encouraging donors to give directly to the many organizations that are providing invaluable services to those in need. However, we learned that some potential donors were confused about where or how to give, so we want to give them this easy option.”

According to Foundation Board President Laura Stanek: “Food pantries are being increasingly stretched to respond to demand, and feeding the hungry is something we know everyone can support. By offering to double the impact of the first $10,000 in donations, we hope this challenge will provide an extra incentive to give now. No one should have to go hungry in this community.”

Checks payable to GSCF may be mailed to the Greater Sauk Community Foundation, PO Box 544, Baraboo WI 53913. Donors can also go to www.greatersauk.org/give-now to make gifts online using major credit cards or a PayPal account. Gifts of any amount are welcome.

The Greater Sauk Community Foundation was established in 1998 to encourage local giving to support local needs. The Foundation has distributed nearly $4 million in grants to local charities since its inception.
