Announcing 2022 Community Grants

BARABOO, WISCONSIN; December 2022 — We are very pleased to announce the recipients of our 2022 year-end Community Grant awards. The Community Foundation of South Central Wisconsin received 26 grant applications totaling $47,820 for our annual Community Grants distribution. We were able to grant 24 of the requests with a record-breaking total of $37,820. Special thanks to the donors and Board members, past and present, whose personal gifts and donor-advised fund grants allowed us to satisfy 11 of the requests. The recipients are listed below along with their grant amounts and the funded projects.

COMMUNITY GRANTS FUND

6:8 INC.: $2,500 for new People Reaching Others program

AGRACE FOUNDATION: $2,600 for two school grief support programs

ALDO LEOPOLD FOUNDATION: $1,000 for new self-guided tour materials

BADGER HONOR FLIGHT: $2,400 to fly two military veterans to DC for a day

BARABOO AREA HOMELESS SHELTER: $2,500 to buy an e-bicycle/tricycle

BARABOO CHILDREN’S MUSEUM: $3,000 toward the new Build a Community exhibit

BREATHE: $1,400 to pay for a livestock drinking post   

DURWARD’S GLEN: $1,500 toward a new handicap ramp        

FRIENDS OF THE LITTLE BROWN CHURCH: $500 to sponsor 2023 concert

HIGHLAND AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY: $1,000 to support local mining exhibit

HISTORIC INDIAN AGENCY HOUSE: $1,000 to underwrite cultural arts exhibit

IOWA COUNTY CANCER COALITION: $500 for cancer patient gift bags

KIDS RANCH: $1,400 for one literacy program scholarship

MINERAL POINT HISTORICAL SOCIETY: $1,000 toward artifact climate control

RIVER ARTS INC.: $1,020 to sponsor keynote presentation

RIVERLAND CONSERVANCY: $1,500 for monarch butterfly habitat project

SAUK CTY AGING & DISABILITY CENTER: $1,500 for Meals on Wheels blizzard packs

ST JOSEPH SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMISSION: $1,000 for social justice ministry programs     

WOMEN’S CIVIC LEAGUE OF PORTAGE: $1,000 to replace Zona Gale House porch deck

TOTAL = $28,320

AMERICAN PLAYERS THEATRE: $1,000 for youth theater education

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF WCW: $2,000 for new workforce development program

SAUK COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: $1,000 for Seal-A-Smile oral health kits

TOTAL = $4,000

FORREST D. HARTMANN FUND FOR THE ARTS

PORTAGE CENTER FOR THE ARTS: $1,500 for youth theater project

HARLAND & LORRAINE HARTMANN FUND

REACH OUT LODI: $4,000 for senior health and dementia support
